Launched in the year 2012, I Am The Change (IATC) is the flagship initiative of Engro Foundation, intended to pay tribute to local change agents who have worked tirelessly to improve the living standards for Pakistan’s poorest of the poor. The initiative aims to collaborate with the corporate and the philanthropic sectors of the country and help individuals and institutions that are pioneering initiatives to improve lives across different spheres.
IATC is one such story that believes that social change can only be achieved if empowered individuals focus their energies for the greater good. Through this initiative, we not only recognize that change is the need of the hour, but also the fact that there are people in Pakistan who have dedicated their lives to the spirit of social development and economic stewardship. These individuals have tried to address numerous problems that have affected Pakistan – poverty, hunger, health, sanitation, education, gender equality, economic growth, reduced inequality, peace, justice, enhanced livelihoods and many more.
Our aim is to bring to light two categories of social change: social development by not-for-profit organizations and social enterprises that work under a sustainable business model. These organizations are trying to solve society’s issues and IATC is a platform to celebrate, support, advise and recognize them so they may be scaled up across Pakistan and impact an increasing number of lives.
Each year, IATC conducts a national-level competition inviting applicants to showcase their initiatives that drive social change. At the heart of IATC’s mission is the belief that true transformation can only occur when empowered individuals and organizations channel their efforts toward the greater good. By supporting and celebrating these changemakers, IATC aims to enable organizations to achieve a large-scale, sustainable impact in Pakistan.
In 2022, IATC proudly honoured two exceptional organizations:
- National Disability & Development Forum (NDF) in the Social Development category.
- ConnectHear in the Social Enterprise category.
Both organizations were awarded a cash prize of PKR 2.5 million each, acknowledging their contributions and providing them with the resources to scale their impactful initiatives.
IATC continues to champion the spirit of innovation and resilience in Pakistan’s development space, empowering changemakers to shape a brighter and more inclusive.
